The grand opening activities included a traditional lion dance, gift card giveaways and samples of the store’s unique mix of Asian offerings
(December 21, 2015 – Burnaby, B.C.) Hundreds of residents of Burnaby came out to the brand new PriceSmart Foods store in Station Square for its grand opening celebration on Saturday, December 19.
The store, a full Asian supermarket concept operated by the Langley-based Overwaitea Food Group, carries thousands of authentic, high-quality items sourced directly from Asia. It also has a full PriceSmart Foods Kitchen with a hot Chinese food buffet, dim sum, barbecued meats, and sushi – all made fresh in the store. The PriceSmart Foods bakery carries fruit buns and can make custom cakes to order, and the store’s full service seafood counter can prepare seafood to any style customers request.
The unique combination of these ready-made options and thousands of authentic grocery products is complemented by the PriceSmart Foods team, which is known for going the extra mile for its customers and community.
Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan and Burnaby-Deer Lake MLA Kathy Corrigan attended the grand opening event and helped in the store’s official ribbon cutting, along with PriceSmart Foods president Darrell Jones and senior vice president of operations Jamie Nelson.
The guests and store managers Alan Ma and Jacky Ho took part in the dotting of the lion head before the traditional lion dance to bring prosperity to the store began.
“We are so excited to be back in the Metrotown area with our incredible new store,” said PriceSmart Foods president Darrell Jones. “This store is one-of-a-kind, with a huge variety of authentic Asian products with the prices, service and high standards PriceSmart customers can trust.”
