The News Group, including The News Group LP and Select Media, distributes magazines, books and a growing number of products
to customers across the United States. With industry-leading distribution and logistics operations, The News Group US operates from 115 service centers and 28 distribution centers, making nearly 50,000 deliveries to 40,000 customers each week. Our local operating managers take pride in delivering excellent service based on their local market knowledge. The News Group’s broad reach and large infrastructure across the United States provide a complete supply chain management solution, including outbound and reverse logistics for more than 1.5 billion periodical copies per year.
The News Group - Canada
The News Group-Canada has been a leader in the Canadian magazine and book wholesale industry since it began operations in Hamilton, Ontario on November 26, 1907. We have earned a leading market share in magazines and our core retail book markets. We are Canada’s largest magazine and book distributor. Our customers include leading retailers such as Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart, Chapters-Indigo-Coles, Safeway, London Drugs, 7-Eleven, LS Travel Retail, BC Ferry Corporation, Hudson News, Metro and the Overwaitea Food Group.
The News Group's specialty magazine and book division, Medialogix, provides periodicals to many leading Canadian specialty retailers such as Home Depot, Lowes, Michaels, Staples, Lee Valley, Ontario Libraries and Canadian Tire.
Stenek, another specialty service division of The News Group - Canada, supplies Canadian retailers with general merchandise logistics and merchandising services. Stenek manages over 8,000 SKUs from over 400 manufacturers. Stenek improves retailer profitability in general merchandise with an industry-leading category management system powered by SAP. The company is growing as retailers out-source certain general merchandise categories to gain efficiencies and grow sales through Stenek’s best-in-class merchandising systems. Substantial product and service testing is underway with two new major retail customers: the Overwaitea Food Group and Loblaw. Stenek's major customers include Sobey’s, Lawtons, Atlantic Coop, Pharmasave, Pharmachoice, Foodland and a growing list of new customers. Stenek has distribution centers in Calgary, Alberta and Amherst, Nova Scotia, with a new distribution centre opening in Toronto in the spring of 2012.
Both directly, and through our joint ventures operating in Ontario and the Prairies, The News Group - Canada, Medialogix and Stenek supply over 7,500 retail stores in all of Canada’s ten provinces and three territories, making us the country’s only fully national periodical wholesaler and general merchandise distributor.
