Genpak is a leading manufacturer of foodservice disposables in North America. With headquarters in Glens Falls, NY and 16 state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada, Genpak's facilities provide a wide range of rigid and flexible products in the single service packaging segment of the foodservice industry.
Genpak’s various product lines include take-out containers, dinnerware, trays, cups, bowls, deli containers, bags and laminated films. They are used by supermarkets, discount stores, consumers and restaurant chains, along with paper and foodservice distributors in the United States and Canada.
In the past year, the economic downturn caused demand and volume to fall in the foodservice business, after many years of steady growth. As a result, product pricing and sales volumes of some products fell, while the market adjusted.
Despite the marketplace challenges Genpak and other suppliers encountered, we maintained our market share while improving our plants. We undertook a major upgrade at our Carthage, TX cup facility and substantially increased the capabilities of our Bloomington, MN flexible plant. In addition, we introduced numerous new products, including a line of lower weight “Valueware™” containers that offer an economical choice to customers seeking value at a reduced price. Our line of PET trays and containers, using more than 40% post-consumer PET resin, continued to grow and, as a result, allowed us to use more than 14 million pounds of recycled water bottles as a part of our continuing environmental stewardship.
With a longstanding reputation for superior quality and service, along with product innovation, Genpak remains the supplier of choice for many of the major restaurant chains – as well as major food and paper distributors across North America.
The company enters 2010 with a tremendous team of employees, customers, suppliers and assets. Despite the tough business climate, the company is extremely well-situated to succeed and grow in the coming year.
