Introduction
The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group celebrated its 43rd anniversary in 2008 as a leader in radio and television programming in Alberta and British Columbia. The core values of the Broadcast Group, combined with a true commitment to Total Team Involvement, has allowed each division to continue to grow annually by using the strengths of its people to achieve its short and long term goals.
Jim Pattison got into the broadcasting business in 1965 when the then Board of Broadcast Governors approved the acquisition of his first radio station in Vancouver, CJOR AM. Since that time, the Broadcast Group has grown substantially and today, with 29 FM radio stations, the Pattison Broadcast Group is Canada’s sixth largest radio group. We also proudly own and operate three television stations in Kamloops and Prince George, BC, along with Medicine Hat, AB.
The broadcast business continues to be exhilarating as we continue to focus on being the best that we can be every day. We believe the philosophy of Total Team Involvement is the key to success in a highly competitive environment. Our team is given the responsibility to strategize, create, implement, and execute quality programming and to deliver best-in-class customer service in every market we are licensed to serve. As we always articulate . . . “ working together, we’re stronger than ever.
To be successful, we strongly believe in our core values and six Guiding Principles. These principles are always at the cornerstone of what our group stands for: Trust, Integrity, Quality, Innovation, Commitment and Customer Service. We strive daily to earn the respect of our communities and our broadcast peers. We credit this effort to the outstanding reputation our company has within and outside the broadcast industry. We are very proud of what we stand for and never take it for granted.
Continued Growth
On the acquisition side of our company, we continue to seek out new opportunities that fit and fulfill our long-term strategy of controlled growth. On December 1st, 2008 the Broadcast Group acquired a strategic asset in Vernon, BC, CKIZ FM (107.5 KISS FM), from Rogers Broadcasting. “Local first and proud of it”, is the station’s motto, and we’re certainly proud to welcome aboard our new team in the North Okanagan.
Speaking of team, in September of this past year, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group held its biannual 2008 “TTI” Sales, Programming and Promotion Conference. The theme of our conference, “Understanding The Other Side Of The Business – Part II,” was a huge success as we brought together 55 key team members from all of our stations to share ideas, learn from each other, strategize and continue refining our “best practices” for the future success of our group. It was a tremendous achievement of Total Team Involvement
Community and being local is what we’re all about, and 2008 was another exceptional year for our Group to continue being the leaders in the area of public service. The Pattison commitment to community and public service is another reason for our success. Partnerships, sponsorships and fundraising for hundreds of local organizations, charities and community groups are vitally important to us, as we keep striving to ensure we make our cities the best they can be for family, spirit and well-being. This year, our 31 radio and television stations donated over $12.5 million throughout BC and AB to such great causes as, Basics for Babies, Tour De Rock, The Variety Children’s Radiothons, Run for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity and hundreds more. We are very proud of our stations’ and team’s leadership role in ensuring the success of all events we support and put our name to.

We couldn’t be more proud of all of our stations who received well-deserv¬ed recognition from their peers in 2008.
Our mission statement . . . “The spirit to win, the spirit to succeed, the spirit to grow, leads to success for a committed team,” is a true reflection on what our philosophy is all about and what we stand for as a radio/television enterprise. We have the spirit, the will and the desire, and we’re proud of the association we have with all of our sister companies in the Jim Pattison Group!
