Leadership Excellence Recognized at the Overwaitea Food Group

On January 21, the Overwaitea Food Group (OFG) was pleased to announce its 2009 Leadership Excellence award winners. The awards were presented for outstanding leadership in three categories – Special Achievement, Leadership Excellence, and Store and Business Leaders of the Year.
Darren Nickerson, Store Manager of Save-On-Foods Ellerslie in Edmonton, Alberta, received the award for Store Leader of the Year. A respected leader in both his community and his store, Darren shares his vision and motivates and inspires his team to run a store that delivers a great shopping experience every day.
Jamie Nelson, OFG’s General Manager, Centre of Store, was honoured with the Business Leader of the Year Award. Jamie is recognized throughout the company for his leadership talents and is highly respected for his integrity, and business acumen.
Leadership Excellence Awards were presented to individuals for displaying outstanding leadership qualities and achieving distinguished results in their areas. Winners in this category were: Terry Piwek, Regional Manager, PriceSmart Foods and Peter Taillon, Store Manager, Save-On-Foods Nelson.
Special Achievement Awards were presented to Major Brar, Director of Labour Relations, for his achievements with team member contract negotiations this year and Jim Finnerty, Save-On-Foods South Point Store Manager, for his leadership and commitment to making inventory management a success.
