Overwaitea Food Group Stores Are First to Sell

Grown Salmon

As part of its commitment to giving customers more sustainable seafood choices, the Overwaitea Food Group (OFG) is the first retailer to sell sustainably grown Coho Salmon in all stores. OFG has exclusive rights to sell SweetSpring brand freshwater Coho, which is grown and harvested at the first commercially viable land-based closed containment salmon farm.
Last spring, OFG announced its six point Sustainable Seafood Plan in conjunction with Canada’s SeaChoice program, a sustainability program that ranks seafood products using a rating system and provides customer education and awareness.
SweetSpring Salmon is rated as a SeaChoice “Best Choice” product and after months of evaluation, the product has been placed on the “Super Green” list by the Seafood Watch Program, one of the most recognized assessment programs available.
