Nesters Market returns iconic shopping locale to Abbott and Cordova
Vancouver, British Columbia – The Woodward’s Food Floor, an iconic Vancouver shopping destination visited by generations of British Columbians before its closure in 1993, re-opens in downtown Vancouver on Tuesday, December 8 as the Woodward’s Food Floor by Nesters Market.
The revamped version of the Woodward’s Food Floor features the unique products and specialty services that made the original Food Floor so popular, including organic, imported and top-quality fresh foods; a full-service seafood counter; a deli-bistro with a café atmosphere; and a bakery. And, as a way to pay homage to the incredible history of the Woodward’s Food Floor, Nesters Market is proud to offer “$1.49 Day” deals as part of its Grand Opening celebrations.

Woodward’s Department Store was built in 1903 by Charles Woodward in what was then Vancouver’s premier shopping district. Woodward’s was known for its Christmas window displays and its Food Floor, famous for quality fresh goods and a line of unusual specialties as well as its catchy “$1.49 Day” jingle. The flagship Woodward’s building grew over time until its peak, when it filled almost an entire city block bounded by Cordova, Hastings and Abbott streets. Today, the original 1903-1908 portion of the building that remains is now under redevelopment by various partners, including Nesters.
Located at the corner of Abbott and Cordova streets, Woodward’s Food Floor by Nesters Market is the 10th Nesters Market location in B.C. and Alberta and features a diverse selection of grocery products from all around the world, as well as many unique products made and packaged in B.C.
