Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach Hits 10,000,000 in Attendance 2007-07-10 Lucky 10-Year Old Reaps Rewards as he Becomes 10 Millionth Guest
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - (July 6, 2007) - 10-year old Ricky McRae of Rockingham, N.C., was the luckiest person in Myrtle Beach when he and his mother Toni, visited Ripley's Aquarium on July 6. As he went through the aquarium's turnstiles, the attendance counter hit 10,000,000 and Ricky became the lucky Ten Millionth guest to visit the aquarium.
In addition to receiving a certificate of acknowledgement, Ricky was awarded gifts from the Cargo Hold gift shop at the aquarium. Ricky and his family were also awarded a weekend getaway vacation to Gatlinburg, Tennessee that will include $1,000 spending money, free admission to many of Gatlinburg's top attractions including Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and Ripley's Believe It or Not! The prize package also included admission to Dollywood, Tennessee's premier theme park, located next to Gatlinburg in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
Ripley's Aquarium, South Carolina's most visited attraction, opened in Myrtle Beach in 1997 and has received numerous awards including the South Carolina Governor's Cup, awarded annually to the organization that has shown a significant tourism-related economic impact which has improved South Carolina's way of life. The aquarium is located at 1110 Celebrity Circle Myrtle Beach at Broadway at the Beach.
In addition to the aquarium, Ripley's operates four other attractions in Myrtle Beach: Ripley's Believe It or Not! odditorium, Ripley's Haunted Adventure, Ripley's 4D Moving Theater and Ripley's Super Fun Zone.
