Food Drive 2006
Food Drive 2006 was a record breaking event in support of the local food bank. CHAT 94.5 FM teamed up with Traxx Coachlines for the 8th annual Food Drive on November 16th 2006.
Every year we invite businesses in the community to set up collection bins in their stores and offices through our on-air campaign. We promoted the locations with on-air name mentions and signage. Then to top it all off we pick up the food and take it to the food bank for them. We had over 100 businesses register to take part in our Food Drive.
Then on November 17th at 8am we loaded all volunteers into a Traxx Coachline bus and started collecting food. This was the third year that we took our radio show on the road. Every announcer from 8am - 7pm broadcasted their show live from the bus. As we went from business to business we weighed and loaded the thousands of pounds of food. Our goal was to collect 33,000 lbs of food, but to our surprise the Medicine Hat Businesses collected over 37,290 lbs of food.
Top Hat Bingo was the business that collected the most food (6,698 lbs) & will be receiving $1000 in free advertising on CHAT 94.5 FM.
