January 6, 2006 (Prince George, BC) - Today The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, Prince George Division launched a new station for Prince George: "101.3 The River, Prince George's at Work Station".
The River began broadcasting at 12:00 noon sharp with a musical format directed to young adults in Prince George, but a primarily female audience 25-49 years. The musical direction of the station is considered "Hot Adult Contemporary", bringing together current chart topping selections with proven music of the past two decades.
"This is an opportunity to refocus our music station under a new brand that we feel better reflects our community," says General Manager, Ken Kilcullen. Why the River? "We have been looking for a new brand for our station for sometime; The River was a natural with the prominence of both the Nechako and Fraser rivers in our community." The new logo for the station projects the right feel for what we will be presenting and at the same time symbolizes the cutbanks and the two rivers of Prince George.
Along with the right music, the station will feature the city's best morning show of Mike Benny and Jessica Rankin with contests and ticket give-aways for the area's hottest events. Ron Polillo will be back in the mid-day and Rick Kelly wraps up the workday from 2 to 6 PM weekdays.
"It's important that there's a station that works for young adults at work and we believe 101.3 The River is that station," says Program Director, Ron Polillo.
